Betsy Parrish is a Professor in the TESOL Program at Hamline University. She has worked as a language teacher, teacher educator, and consultant for over thirty-five years, with experience in the U.S., Bangladesh, Costa Rica, France, India, Russia, and Vietnam. Her research centers around instruction in effective collaboration, critical thinking, and strategies for comprehending complex texts, all essential for preparing English learners for success in today’s world. She also explores effective practices in continuous teacher professional development. Her most recent book, Teaching Adult English Language Learners (Cambridge University Press, 2019), supports teachers in their work with adult multilingual learners.
