Stephanie DeFrance Schmidt has taught Multilingual Learners of English in grades K-12 for 20 years. Most of her career has been teaching English learners in Spanish and Hmong immersion programs. She was also a teacher leader, professional development facilitator, and peer instructional coach. Her research focuses on the intersection of Science of Reading-based approaches and Multilingual Learners. She currently teaches in Hamline University’s School of Education and Leadership, and she provides consulting and training in teacher leadership through TESOL International.
