Aliza Fones is an assistant professor of TESOL/Applied Linguistics at the University of Northern Iowa. A former K-12 English language learner (ELL) teacher, Dr. Fones investigates the preparation of teachers of emergent bilingual students, and the contexts that shape their work. Her current research and teaching address emergent bilingual students in rural settings, content area instruction of emergent bilingual students, dual-language education, and community engagement with immigrant, refugee, and multilingual families.
